Lent

For those of you who don't know what Lent is here is a definition: Lent is a call to share in the suffering love of Jesus, especially by giving up sin and sinful attitudes and walking in the path of love and service. The season of Lent begins with Ash wednesday, when a priest (usually a Catholic Priest) smears ash on the foreheads of Christians as a reminder that we are created from dust and to dust we shall return.

So what am I giving up for Lent.... SUGAR

Yes, lovely sweet delicious SUGAR. I love sugar anything with sugar in it. I am giving it up for 40 days and 40 nights, It is going to be really hard for me. I love to do my secret stop at B&R for some Ice Cream, or the Black Rooster (the best coffee shop in Folsom) for some Gilato, or when I visit my dear friends in Reno or San Diego we get a Bunt Cake or some Cheesecake. ummmmm this is going to be really hard for me. Especially because I'm going to Reno next weekend and San Diego in March. Normally when I have tried to give up something for lent, I have failed miserably, but this year its different somehow I feel a bit closer to God, maybe its because I'm going to church more or because I joined a small group.

This is going to be a big challenge, but isn't that what lent is supposed to be a challenge. A challenge for us to get closer to god, to lean on him and ask him to help us get through hard times, even if it is something small like not eating sugar?

Target

I have a small addiction associated with Target. Every time I go into that store I wind up spending at least 100 bucks. Its ridiculous! There is always something I need or something that Little lady needs. Today I went into Target all I needed was one thing, and I came out of there with a cart full of stuff, not to mention our Target has a Starbucks inside!!! WOW.... ohhhhh goood.  So not only do you spend your wad, you get a little coffee high to.  I have decided that from now on, I will make a wish list and go into Target with out my wallet.  OR wait until I get a gift card for my birthday.
